Research In Motion, the people who bring us the Blackberry, have been busy working on sensitive billboards by the roadside. No, they’re not going to make billboards that will listen to you when nobody else seems to care, but, by using technology that detects how many mobile phones there are in a particular area, and how quickly those phones are moving, they can then make the content of roadside billboards react to the passing traffic in a sensible and logical manner.
For instance, if traffic is light and moving swiftly, the messages being displayed may be brief and to the point.
But if that passing traffic is heavy and slow moving, then the messages may contain more and greater detail, or be more informative than might otherwise be the case.
