For a long time, the accepted medical practice has been to use titanium plates and screws and other hardware to assist patients who have suffered major bone trauma.
In Germany, Fraunhofer have developed a new form of titanium foam, that more closely resembles the structure and density of human bone. As such, this may be a new way to assist with the rebuilding of fractures suffered by people through their various activities.
