Bank of America ATMs Compromised

In the US, a former Bank Of America computer programmer has been jailed for programming some embedded malware into the banks ATM software.

Rodney Reed Caverly was working on a project that involved the bank’s ATMs, and whilst engaged on that project, he wrote some code that permitted cash to be siphoned off from the machines, but without it affecting any clients’ transactions.

The Security Week article contains further details of what was done.
