Cambridge University in the UK has been asked by the bankers’ trade association in the UK to censor the PHD thesis of one of its students, Omar Choudary,
Omar’s thesis attacks the way some technology has been implemented within the banks’ systems, but rather than trying to address the problem at hand – by fixing the bugs – it seems that the banks would rather just bury their collective heads in the sand, and mislead the public into believing that all is well with their systems.
Rather than censor the student’s work, the university took the bankers’ association to task, telling them that they seem to have “a deep misconception of what universities are and how we work”, and they pointed out that “Cambridge is the University of Erasmus, of Newton, and of Darwin; censoring writings that offend the powerful is offensive to our deepest values.”
You can find more details here and here. I strongly suggest reading this; the banks are arrogant cloistered, and need to understand the points made by the university.
