An 8 weeks old springer spaniel was taken to a pound in Ireland after being abandoned by her owner because she was deaf.
The staff at the centre where Alice was surrendered knew that she would be a difficult dog to place, due to the special training and attention such an animal would need. Not being able to hear commands is a serious impediment for most people when it comes to training dogs.
Enter Marie Williams and Mark Morgan, a deaf couple who happened to be looking for a dog. They saw Alice and decided that she would be a perfect match for them.
Alice is learning commands in sign language, and can sit, come, and roll over.
