As we all know, EMI is a very large distributor of music.
And as we all know, all of the very large distributors of music have been drecrying the use of file sharing sites, such as Pirate Bay, and RapidShare, to name just two.
According to EMI, these sorts of sites are evil, and pirate havens. And should not be used.
Unless of course you happen to be EMI, which itself, uses RapidShare in order to distribute its music to those who wish to grab the files.
Yes, that’s right. In order to help to generate publicity about its music, including upcoming releases, EMI has admitted to using RapidShare – the site it has declared as a “pirate haven” – to do exactly what they want to stop everyone else from doing. A recent court filing reveals that EMI was actively marketing their music on RapidShare; this was revealed in documents filed in their case against MP3Tunes.
And EMI actually lied about this in court, until a mounting wall of evidence forced their hand. You can read more about this here.
