In iPhone 4 Land, Nobody Can Hear You

With all of the reports of the iPhone’s reception problems, Apple are reported to have issued directives to their support stuff that basically tells their customers that the problem is one of operator error.

Were that the case, why is it that a bumper, such as the one that Apple is selling for US$29, cures the problem?

For those looking for a slightly less expensive solution, it may be worth looking at the rubber wristbands that cyclists wear. For just a couple of bucks, it seems that these may do the trick.

UPDATE:

Apple have now issued a note saying that there is a fault. In the way that they render the signal strength bars on the iPhone’s display. There will be a firmware update issued sometime soon that corrects this situation.
