Timing is everything: When would be the worst time to steal an iPhone?
How about while it’s being used to demonstrate a new app that tracks the iPhone’s current location using the embedded GPS facility.
In San Francisco on Monday last, 32 year old Horatio Toure was riding his bicycle when he spotted Jordan Sturm, who is an assistant at Mountain View’s Covia Labs. She just happened to be demonstrating their new product, “Alert & Respond”, As noted above, this is designed to track your location in real time, using the GPS.
Having called the police, she was able to give them the exact location of the thief and phone, who was tracked down and arrested within about ten minutes of the crime.
Looks like the app works.
